Position Overview

Power your future with Qualus as a Senior Drafting Technician on our Underground Transmission Engineering Team. You will be responsible for drafting designs supporting distribution and transmission projects for utility client programs. You will work on a variety of projects, such as electrical schematics or structural components, often collaborating with other engineering team members to achieve project goals. Responsibilities

  • Perform drafting projects for multiple utility client programs, supporting electric distribution & transmission design.
  • Interpret construction documents to compile relevant information for electric designs
  • Create and develop drawing packages for bidding, construction, as-built, and submittal purpose
  • Participate in the quality assurance/quality control program to deliver industry-leading design products.
  • Develop knowledge of industry standards or codes.
  • Collaborate with engineers and managers in service lines to leverage the provide support.
  • Work independently with minimal direction as a highly motivated self-starter

Qualifications

  • High School Education Required. AA/AS/BS degree in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software, Engineering Technology, or related technical training or certifications. 
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Ideal candidates will have a background in drafting, supporting electrical infrastructure
  • 5-10 years of industry-related CAD design experience
  • Extensive and thorough knowledge of engineering design for service line, including AutoCAD Civil3D and Bentley MicroStation.  
  • Familiarity with land survey techniques and coordinate reference systems is highly desired.
  • Advanced knowledge of other applicable design software
  • Familiarity with field techniques for construction of electrical infrastructure
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Willingness to travel up to 5%
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

The expected compensation range for this position is based upon several factors, including but not limited to education, qualifications, prior relevant work experience and work location.
