Position Overview
Power your future with Qualus as a Senior Drafting Technician on our Underground Transmission Engineering Team. You will be responsible for drafting designs supporting distribution and transmission projects for utility client programs. You will work on a variety of projects, such as electrical schematics or structural components, often collaborating with other engineering team members to achieve project goals. Responsibilities
- Perform drafting projects for multiple utility client programs, supporting electric distribution & transmission design.
- Interpret construction documents to compile relevant information for electric designs
- Create and develop drawing packages for bidding, construction, as-built, and submittal purpose
- Participate in the quality assurance/quality control program to deliver industry-leading design products.
- Develop knowledge of industry standards or codes.
- Collaborate with engineers and managers in service lines to leverage the provide support.
- Work independently with minimal direction as a highly motivated self-starter
Qualifications
- High School Education Required. AA/AS/BS degree in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software, Engineering Technology, or related technical training or certifications.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Ideal candidates will have a background in drafting, supporting electrical infrastructure
- 5-10 years of industry-related CAD design experience
- Extensive and thorough knowledge of engineering design for service line, including AutoCAD Civil3D and Bentley MicroStation.
- Familiarity with land survey techniques and coordinate reference systems is highly desired.
- Advanced knowledge of other applicable design software
- Familiarity with field techniques for construction of electrical infrastructure
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Willingness to travel up to 5%
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
