Job Title: Senior Analyst

Location: New York City, hybrid

Reports To: Senior Director

Type: Full-Time

Role

QualRisk is seeking a full-time Senior Analyst with a background in insurance pricing or analytics to support our P&C consulting engagements. This role is well-suited to someone who loves data science and technical work but is just as happy rolling up their sleeves on strategic consulting work, or someone looking to round out a technical background with broader business and client-facing experience. Actuarial credentials (or progress toward them) are a plus but not required. No formal actuarial exam support will be offered. Specifically, the Senior Analyst will:

  1. Support pricing and analytical workstreams alongside senior team members, contributing both technical judgment and business insight.
  2. Perform research and analysis on industry and company-level trends and synthesize findings into clear insights.
  3. Contribute pricing or actuarial perspective to rate indications, profitability, and business case discussions.
  4. Manipulate and query datasets and provide data visualizations to support analysis.
  5. Create and deliver client-ready documents and presentations that make technical work accessible to non-technical audiences.
  6. Contribute to financial analysis and business case development.
  7. Participate and contribute to internal and client meetings, sharing ideas and helping solve client business challenges.
  8. Manage multiple workstreams and communicate updates to stakeholders.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree with 3-6 years of experience in insurance pricing, actuarial, or analytics roles (P&C industry strongly preferred).
  2. Pricing experience required, such as exposure to rate indications, rating plan development, or model development.
  3. Comfortable moving between technical/analytical work and broader strategic or client-facing consulting work.
  4. Actuarial exam progress (ACAS/FCAS track) is a plus, but not required; strong candidates from data science or analytics backgrounds are equally welcome.
  5. Working familiarity with data tools (e.g., SQL, R, or Python) is a plus, but deep hands-on modeling skill is not required for this role.
  6. Advanced Excel skills, with ability to build spreadsheets to analyze business performance or support financial analysis.
  7. Strong verbal and written communication with the ability to summarize technical work effectively for non-technical audiences.
  8. Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving ability and excellent organization/planning skills.
  9. Ability to manage multiple tasks and work well in a fast-paced environment.
  10. Team player with the ability to build relationships and work well with others.
  11. Interest in technology, start-up culture, and being at the forefront of the latest analytical and modeling techniques.
