π Opportunity to grow people, processes, and the business
Quality Welding & Fabrication (QWF) is a family-owned manufacturing company with over 20 years of experience supporting custom fabrication and machining for industrial customers. As we expand our industrial and government contract portfolio, we continue to invest in people, processes, and capability. We are seeking an experienced Machining Manager to lead and grow our machining operation.
The Role
The Machining Manager will currently lead a team of machinists, with the opportunity to grow headcount, capability, and customer relationships over time.
This is a hands-on leadership role in a custom job shop environment, not a production-line setting. The successful candidate will be comfortable on the shop floor, involved in estimating and planning, and focused on building strong, repeatable processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily machining operations including scheduling, workflow, quality, and delivery
- Develop, improve, and standardize machining processes as volume and complexity grow
- Utilize 3D models and Mastercam to support machining strategy, tooling decisions, and efficient execution
- Lead estimating and job planning for machining work, including review of prints, 3D models, tooling requirements, and capacity considerations
- Collaborate with fabrication, engineering, and leadership to ensure manufacturable and efficient execution
- Build, mentor, and hold accountable a machining team focused on craftsmanship and consistency
- Identify opportunities to expand machining work with existing or new customers
- Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and on-time performance
What Weβre Looking For
- 10 years of machining experience in a job shop or custom manufacturing environment
- Prior leadership experience (Machining Manager, Supervisor, Lead Machinist, or similar)
- Working experience with Mastercam in a machining environment
- Ability to review, interpret, and apply 3D models to real-world machining processes, tooling decisions, and job planning
- Familiarity with other CAD/CAM tools (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar) is a plus
- Strong understanding of machining processes, tolerances, tooling, and workflow
- Business-minded approach with an understanding of customer relationships
- Existing industry or customer connections are a strong plus
- Hands-on leadership style β comfortable on the shop floor
This role requires practical, shop-floor use of 3D models β not a full-time design or engineering position.
Work Environment
- Custom manufacturing / job shop setting
- Close collaboration with fabrication, engineering, and company leadership
- Stable operation with room to grow β not constant reinvention
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive salary $85,000β$105,000, based on experience
- Opportunity for increased compensation as the machining operation grows
- Simple IRA with 3% company match
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance
- Paid time off starting on day one
- Company-paid holidays
Why QWF
- Family-owned company with long-term vision
- Opportunity to shape and grow a machining operation
- Leadership role with real influence
- Supportive, long-tenured team
- Focus on doing things right β not chasing trends
Quality. ON-time. Daily.
