The Rail Logistics Specialist (RLS) – Day Shift is an important full-time role in bringing all the QTS products and services together to manage the QTS-Client relationship. The RLS works at our headquarters Monday-Friday 8 am-5 pm, serving as a facilitator and problem solver, marshaling resources inside of QTS, which brings both the customer and the railroad together to work in tandem to achieve success.
Primary Duties:
· Interact with the customers, railroads, and support partners to foster positive relationships.
- Analyze the customer’s service issues throughout the rail operating environment (North America)
- Prioritize, intercede, and follow up on customer service issues and requests with the appropriate party responsible, as the customer expects.
- Collaborate with Rail carriers concerning problem railcars and resolve delays or other transit deviations from their expected route plan.
- Keep the customer well-informed of any problem cars and suggest/provide corrective plans of action.
- Keep accurate and detailed records of all work completed, including problem logs.
- Manage new issues and responsibilities that can come along in the rail industry.
- Manage backup accounts when needed.
- Represent the company before customers and potential customers.
- Participate in account reviews.
- Create routes based on the railroad schedules.
- Analyze data on all rail movements to relay to the customer.
- Attain knowledge of rail laws and regulations.
- Submit bills of lading for railcar shipments, and execute railcar diversions, sometimes based upon little to no information.
- Required to cover Saturday on-call duties through a rotating schedule.
SKILLS:
· Strong data-entry skills (keyboard and 10-key) and attention to detail.
· Ability to work unsupervised using independent judgment.
· Excellent telephone skills, as well as grammar, spelling, and written communication proficiency.
· Working knowledge of MS Office Suite applications required.
· Critical thinking skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
· Ability to multitask and prioritize workload to ensure efficient and effective use of time and resources.
· Basic knowledge of Spanish and/or French is helpful.
· Rail knowledge helpful
Experience:
- Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or University
- 1-3 years of experience in customer service, transportation, or logistics is desired
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
- Analytical and problem-solving skills helpful.
