The Director of Fleet and Engineering Services will oversee the development and success of the department using our company strategy, which aims to bring QTS Rail Fleet products and services together in order to manage the QTS-Client relationship and Make Rail Work for our customers. This role will be onsite at our corporate headquarters 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday.
Primary Duties:
· Provide direction in rail fleet management areas pertaining to equipment maintenance, repairs, repair auditing, estimate review and approval, repair invoice audit and approval, and disputes.
· Provide direction in rail fleet management areas pertaining to rental and mileage statements for lease equipment for review, auditing and invoice approvals.
· Provide direction for all activities involved in wreck management, including final invoicing for settlements to car owner for damages.
· Provide direction regarding Rail Fleet Services for Customer presentations, implementation of start up, and ongoing scheduled meetings regarding rail fleet management.
· Scaling up growth of the department.
· Ability to take company strategy and turn into actionable directives.
· Provide direction and oversight in the development and design of Rail Fleet Management systems.
· Participate in research and development of new tools and processes to enhance Rail Fleet Services.
· Provide regulatory training to Fleet Department and identify opportunities (Industry meetings and seminars) for Fleet Staff to increase overall knowledge and expertise of regulatory requirements.
· Manage Hazmat training.
· Travel as necessary to perform duties of Director, Fleet & Engineering Services.
· Back up all Fleet personnel when positions are vacant or as needed to maintain continuity of services until vacancy is filled.
Skills:
· Working knowledge of rail transportation is required.
· Knowledge of DOT/AAR regulations.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Working knowledge of MS Office Suite applications
· Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
· Mechanical aptitude.
Experience:
· Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or University
· 5 years’ experience in rail fleet and engineering management.
· HAZMAT Certification
