POSITION SUMMARY:

The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading daily production operations to achieve plant objectives in Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost. This position provides direct leadership to 20 to 35 full-time and temporary associates, ensuring production goals are met while maintaining compliance with company policies and Healthcare Laundry Accreditation Council (HLAC) standards. The Production Supervisor promotes a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and employee development.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Production Planning and Workflow
    • Monitor hourly production performance, labor efficiency (PPOH), staffing levels, and workflow to ensure daily production goals are met.
    • Coordinate staffing assignments, cross-training, and temporary labor to meet changing production demands while controlling overtime.
    • Monitor work-in-process inventory and support Kanban inventory systems to maintain efficient production flow.
  • Documentation and Communication
    • Accurately document employee attendance, productivity, training, disciplinary actions, incident reports, and production records.
    • Coordinate with Maintenance, Transportation, Customer Service, and other departments to resolve operational issues quickly and effectively.
  • Safety, Quality, and Compliance
    • Ensure compliance with all safety policies, HLAC standards, and company operating procedures.
    • Perform routine quality inspections to confirm clean healthcare textiles meet established standards before shipment.
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready work environment by applying 5S and Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Leadership and Continuous Improvement
    • Supervise, coach, and develop production associates and team leads through training, performance feedback, and clear accountability.
    • Investigate production issues, quality concerns, accidents, and near misses; identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives that eliminate waste, improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction.
    • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate's degree or additional technical education preferred.
  • Minimum 2 to 5 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing, industrial laundry, or a related production environment.
  • Experience leading teams of 20 or more employees.
  • Strong leadership, communication, coaching, conflict resolution, and employee development skills.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, and KPI-driven operations preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and production reporting systems.
  • Ability to analyze production metrics and make sound operational decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, push, pull, and lift up to 35 pounds throughout the workday.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as business needs require.
