What are the responsibilities and job description for the Estimator position at Quality Machine & Fab?
We are seeking an experienced Estimator with a background in manufacturing. This role is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for steel fabrication and manufacturing projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of material costs, labor, BOMs, and the full job quoting process.
- Review drawings, specifications, and RFQs to prepare detailed cost estimates
- Analyze steel and material requirements, labor, and equipment needs
- Develop and maintain BOMs and routing data
- Work closely with engineering, production, and sales teams to ensure accurate pricing
- Create and manage quotes, tracking revisions and customer feedback
- Assist in improving estimating processes and cost tracking systems
Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in a manufacturing estimating role
- Strong knowledge of steel fabrication and manufacturing processes
- Proficient in reading technical drawings and blueprints
- Experience with BOM creation and job routing
- Comfortable with ERP/MRP systems and quoting software
- Strong analytical and math skills
- Detail-oriented with excellent time management
Preferred:
- Background in custom fabrication or job shop environments
- Familiarity with CAD, SolidWorks, or similar software
Pay:
- $62k-$72k
