Quality Life Concepts has a Full Time Specialist position open.
The primary functions of the Specialist are to promote excellence in
life experiences for children and adults with developmental disabilities
by providing the support necessary for people to hope, dream and achieve
their life goals through increased independence, productivity, and by
building relationships with their families, friends, and community.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor or Associates degree in related field preferred plus 2
years of experience in progressively more responsible positions in
services for person with intellectual disabilities.
2. Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience is preferred.
3. Able to push, pull, bend, stoop, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds
4. Valid driver's license with an insurable driving record
5. Must pass a criminal background check
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
1. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and promote good customer service.
2. Working knowledge of all aspects of client service delivery, including but not limited to: personal support planning, behavior support applications, community inclusion, etc.
3. Must be dependable and reliable.
4. Must have basic computer skills and be able to use all required software.
5. Must have ability to problem-solve and assist in decision-making, including during emergencies.
6. Must meet the criteria to be an approved driver for QLC, have reliable transportation and be able to travel geographical location.
7. Must have the ability to work productively with individuals and other team members to develop relationships.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Acts as an internal case coordinator by ensuring the plan of care is developed and modified based on the person’s assessed needs and goals, that it accurately reflects the person’s history, health and safety supports and meets agency and regulatory requirements.
2. Ensures the plan of care is implemented as written, writes and/or reviews protocols for accuracy and integrity, develops basic skill acquisition programs, ensures data quality and integrity by providing support and training to supervised staff, ensures agency training requirements and staff competencies are met on time.
3. Supports other staff by being present, observant, and offering ongoing feedback.
4. Ensures client transition to and from other facilities, providers, medical or other programs.
5. Advocates for the rights and responsibilities of the people we serve.
6. Assists with recruitment, hiring and training of new staff.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
1. Ability to accommodate alteration of scheduled hours or days off as necessary.
2. Ability to function with minimal supervision and coaching within the responsibilities of the job description
3. Ability to perform repeated lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping and reaching, regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, exposure to offensive odors and behavioral incidents is likely.
4. Ability and capacity to assist individuals with physical disabilities and other needs such as maneuvering a wheelchair, assisting with adaptive equipment, accessing communication devices, etc.
5. Ability to provide for the personal care needs of the person, potentially including assistance with hygiene, eating, bathing, etc.
6.Ability and capability to prevent or mitigate physical aggression directed towards self or others using redirection, gradual guidance, or other approved techniques.
Training Requirements:
1. Complete and maintain all agency required training within agency timelines; initial certification to be complete within 30 days of hire.
2. Maintain State and agency medication certification within agency timelines; initial certification to be completed within 6 months of hire.
3. Complete all required College of Direct Supports components within agency timelines.
4. Complete supervisory training when offered.
