What are the responsibilities and job description for the Front Desk Agent — Owner-Operated Hotel, Winslow AZ position at Quality Inn Winslow I-40?
The front desk is where this hotel makes or loses money. We want someone who already knows that.
64 rooms, Choice-flagged, limited service, right on I-40. Interstate transient, construction crew business, traveling nurses, Route 66 tourism, everyday 1-40 travelers with a heavy flow of walk in traffic — this desk is busy, and we need someone who uplifts guest satisfaction, even under pressure and chaos. New ownership, actively renovating and rebuilding how the property runs. You'd be part of the rebuild, not a placeholder until it's done.
You work for an owner who is on property, not a management company reading reports from four states away. When a procedure is broken, you say so and it gets fixed.
What you'll do
- Check-ins, check-outs, reservations, and the phone — quoting rates and taking direct bookings, not sending people to a website
- Own your shift's money: card authorization on every arrival, a drawer that balances at close, folios settled, every adjustment written down with a reason
- Handle crew and long-stay guests
- Resolve guest problems on the spot with good business judgement and ownership. Nobody should hear “I'll have to ask the manager” at 11 PM - you make the call.
What we're looking for
- 1 year at a hotel front desk, branded property preferred
- choiceADVANTAGE experience is a strong bonus. Opera, OnQ, or another real PMS is fine; you know what a guest ledger is and why it matters.
- Night audit experience and openness to a flexible schedule is a bonus.
- Cash and card handling with no gaps in the story.
- Evenings and weekends. Not negotiable — small property, no bench, and that's when the desk is busiest.
- Reliable transportation to Winslow. On time, every shift.
The honest version
We're aggressively improvement the property and optimizing processes. The procedures here are being rebuilt, which means things will change while you're in the seat and we'll want your input on what's broken. If you want a desk where nothing changes, this isn't it.
Pay
- $15.50–$17.00/hr, depending on experience. Good references, choiceADVANTAGE fluency, proven results, put you at the top.
- Part time or Full-time. Evenings and weekends are the need; exact shifts discussed at interview.
How to apply
Skip the cover letter. In your message, give us three things: (1) the PMS you've used and for how long, (2) years at a hotel front desk, and (3) in two sentences, how you ensure guest satisfaction. Tell us your availability for evenings and weekends. That's the application. Attach a resume if you have one.
We hire on results. Equal opportunity employer.
