Responsibilities
- Provide direct personal care to clients, including assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Support clients with mobility needs using equipment like Hoyer lifts or transfer belts while ensuring safety protocols are followed
- Monitor patients’ health by observing vital signs, reporting changes, and maintaining accurate documentation in care plans
- Assist with medication administration according to prescribed schedules and HIPAA confidentiality standards
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary requirements and assist with meal planning and cooking when necessary
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and organizing living spaces
- Document all care activities thoroughly in compliance with healthcare regulations and company policies
Requirements
- Prior experience in home health care, assisted living, nursing home settings, or group homes is highly preferred
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, dementia care (including Alzheimer’s and memory care), hospice care, autism spectrum disorder support, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities in general
- Certifications such as CPR, First Aid, HIPAA compliance training, and any state-specific caregiving credentials are required or highly valued
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts; physical stamina for long shifts involving standing or walking is essential
- Strong communication skills for working collaboratively with clients’ families, healthcare teams, and social workers
