Position Summary:
The Deli Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and serving high-quality hot and cold foods in the deli department. This position ensures that all recipes, food safety standards, and presentation guidelines are followed to maintain excellent quality and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook a variety of deli foods according to store recipes and standards.
- Maintain proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures in accordance with health department and company policies.
- Ensure all products are fresh, properly labeled, and attractively displayed in the service case and hot bar.
- Monitor food temperatures, stock levels, and cooking times to ensure consistent quality and availability.
- Assist customers courteously, offering product information and suggestions when requested.
- Follow daily production schedules, prep lists, and cleaning checklists.
- Properly store and rotate ingredients and prepared foods to minimize waste and ensure freshness.
- Operate deli equipment safely (slicers, ovens, fryers, steam tables, etc.).
- Support deli team members with setup, breakdown, and restocking as needed.
- Comply with all store policies, including personal hygiene and attendance expectations.
Qualifications:
- Previous cooking or food preparation experience preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
- Ability to follow cooking instructions and portion guidelines accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Must be able to stand, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs during a shift.
- Ability to work in warm temperature settings.
