Position Overview
As a Roadside Diesel Technician, you will operate a service truck and respond to emergency roadside breakdowns involving commercial trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment. You’ll diagnose issues, perform repairs in the field, and provide exceptional customer service while representing Quality Fleet Services.
This is a 24/7 roadside operation, and technicians participate in a rotating on-call schedule covering both daytime and overnight shifts. While technicians are not expected to work around the clock, flexibility and availability during assigned on-call rotations are essential to ensure timely emergency roadside support for our customers.
Responsibilities
- Respond to roadside service calls and emergency breakdowns
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, electrical systems, air brakes, fuel systems, cooling systems, and related components
- Perform roadside repairs including battery replacement, tire service, fuel delivery, air system repairs, and mechanical troubleshooting
- Utilize diagnostic software and equipment to identify and resolve issues efficiently
- Communicate clearly with dispatch and customers regarding repair status and findings
- Complete accurate service documentation and repair reports
- Maintain service truck cleanliness, inventory, and equipment
- Follow all company safety procedures and industry best practices
- Deliver professional and courteous customer service at all times
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of diesel repair experience required
- Roadside service experience preferred but not required
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- CDL is a plus but not required
- Must own basic hand tools
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in various weather conditions
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to participate in on-call rotations and respond to emergency service calls
