As part of our continued growth, we are seeking top engineering talent with experience in low-voltage (480V) through medium-voltage (5kV–15kV) systems.


Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer with a strong background in medium-voltage systems to join our team in West Jordan, UT.

In this role, you will be responsible for the design, development, and support of electrical systems integrated into QES products. You will ensure designs meet customer specifications, applicable codes and standards, and internal quality expectations.

This position is ideal for a hands-on engineer with strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality, custom-engineered solutions.


Key Responsibilities

Engineering Design & Development

  • Design and develop medium-voltage electrical systems, including switchgear, protection schemes, distribution layouts, and control integration.
  • Support full-system solutions by contributing to low- and high-voltage component design as required.
  • Create engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, specifications, and technical documentation in compliance with NEC, IEEE, NFPA, UL, and customer requirements.

Analysis & Technical Validation

  • Perform load flow studies, arc-flash analysis, and short-circuit calculations using tools such as SKM or ETAP.
  • Ensure system designs meet performance, safety, and regulatory standards.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with project managers, production teams, and field technicians to support manufacturing, installation, testing, and commissioning.
  • Review customer technical specifications to ensure alignment with QES capabilities and compliance requirements.

Troubleshooting & Support

  • Assist in diagnosing and resolving electrical issues related to switchgear, PDCs, VFD systems, and modular electrical buildings.
  • Provide technical support during fabrication, integration, and field deployment phases.

Documentation & Continuous Improvement

  • Prepare submittals, bills of materials (BOMs), and compliance documentation.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system performance, efficiency, and reliability.


Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on medium-voltage systems.
  • Strong knowledge of power distribution equipment, switchgear, motor controls, and protection systems.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar design tools.
  • Solid understanding of electrical codes and standards (NEC, IEEE, NFPA, UL).
  • Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.

Prefered

  • Experience with SKM, ETAP, or similar power system analysis software.
  • Familiarity with VFD systems, switchgear, and modular electrical buildings (E-Houses).
  • Knowledge of PLCs, industrial automation, and control systems integration.
  • Experience working in manufacturing or product development environments.
