About the Role
Quality Control Laboratories, LLC (QCL) is seeking Concrete Field Testing Technicians / Special Inspectors to support ongoing DOT and construction projects across NYC.
This position involves daily field work, testing concrete, and ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards under the supervision of a Licensed Professional Engineer.
Requirements (Must Have)
- ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I (Required)
- Valid driver’s license
- Reliable personal vehicle (travel required across NYC boroughs)
- Ability to work in outdoor construction environments
- Strong communication and reporting skills
Responsibilities
- Travel to various construction sites throughout NYC
- Perform field testing of concrete, including:
- Slump
- Air content
- Temperature
- Unit weight
- Prepare and handle concrete cylinders for lab testing
- Monitor construction activities for compliance with DOT and NYC requirements
- Complete daily field reports using web-based systems
- Communicate with contractors, project managers, and internal team
- Report discrepancies and ensure proper documentation
Preferred (Not Required)
- Experience in construction inspection or materials testing
- Familiarity with NYC Building Code / DOT standards
- Additional certifications (ACI, ICC, AWS) are a plus
- Engineering background (Civil/Geotechnical/Mechanical)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. (equipment, molds, etc.)
- Ability to work on active construction sites and move throughout job areas
- Comfortable working in various weather conditions
