Job Summary
Quality Concrete is seeking a detail-oriented Construction Surveyor to support our commercial and residential concrete projects. This position is responsible for accurately laying out and verifying project building corners and grid lines using Total Station equipment, interpreting construction plans, and working closely with project managers and field crews to ensure projects are built according to specifications.
The ideal candidate has experience with construction surveying and blueprint reading, is comfortable using surveying technology, and enjoys working outdoors in a fast-paced construction environment. Experience with Topcon Field Link software is highly preferred. While previous experience is preferred, we are willing to train the right individual who demonstrates a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.
Essential Responsibilities
- Operate Total Station equipment to perform construction layout and staking.
- Utilize Topcon Field Link software (or similar construction layout software) to upload, manage, and execute project layouts.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, site plans, grading plans, and specifications.
- Establish building corners, footing locations, column lines, offsets commercial concrete projects, and property pins for residential.
- Verify layout accuracy before and throughout construction.
- Work closely with project managers, superintendents, foremen, and field crews to ensure layouts are accurate and completed on schedule.
- Calculate offsets, and dimensions using surveying software and field calculations.
- Perform as-built measurements and document completed work.
- Maintain survey equipment and ensure it remains properly calibrated.
- Assist in identifying and resolving layout discrepancies before they impact production.
- Keep accurate field notes and documentation.
- Ensure all work complies with project specifications and safety requirements.
- Travel between job sites throughout the region as needed.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in construction surveying, construction layout, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience operating a Total Station.
- Experience using Topcon Field Link software is highly preferred (or willingness to learn).
- Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints, architectural drawings, structural plans, and site plans.
- Knowledge of construction layout practices
- Strong math skills, including geometry and basic trigonometry.
- Experience with commercial concrete construction is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Topcon Magnet, Carlson, Trimble Business Center, or similar software is a plus.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Physical Requirements
- Walk uneven and active construction sites daily.
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and stand for extended periods.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Safely operate company vehicles and surveying equipment.

Pay: $20.00 - $28.00 per hour
