What are the responsibilities and job description for the Advanced Certified Medical Assitant (1715) position at QUALITY COMMUNITY HEALTH CARE INC?
WHO WE ARE: Quality Community Health Care, Inc. (QCHC) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) operated health care center since 1980. We provide service at 3 locations in Philadelphia, PA, managing the health and wellness of patients from infants through senior citizens. We practice medicine as a partnership between us and our patients.
POSITION PURPOSE: Functions as a team member, fills the role of support for providers, and facilitates providers in delivering patient care in an effective and timely manner. Provides triage and assistance in the evaluation of pediatric and adult patients.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
- Accurately collect and promptly record information on medical history from patients.
- Maintain clean and orderly examination and work-up rooms promptly, including planning and preparing the examination room after each patient:
- Change the paper on the table,
- Replace supplies as needed.
- Appropriately dispose of all waste.
- Prepare patients for physical exams promptly and assist physicians/physician assistants as directed.
- Obtain Electrocardiogram (EKG) on patients as assigned.
- Perform work-ups on each patient in ten (10) minutes or less and document accurately. I.E.:
- Obtain weight.
- Vital signs
- Temperature
- Pulse
- Blood pressure
- Respirations
- Prepare lab specimens for mailing and/or collection promptly.
- Prepare solutions necessary for cleaning and/or decontamination promptly.
- Perform daily inventory and restock the lab and exam rooms with specific supplies.
- Participate in in-service and other training programs.
- Comply with all guidelines set forth by Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
- Perform philavax
- Comply with all laboratory guidelines as set forth by Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) regulations.
- Complete referrals for patients and record them in the referral logbook.
- Escort all patients to the necessary departments as indicated and facilitate patient flow.
- Ensure confidentiality of all information of all patients.
- Provide services during Saturday hours on a rotational basis as assigned.
- Substitute at the school-based clinic as necessary.
- Administer injections and give immunizations to pediatrics and adults as directed.
- Carry out other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Adhered to QCHC House Rules.
- Responsible for obtaining Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) consent, providing HIV pre-test counseling, running the HIV rapid test, relaying the result to the provider, and completing all necessary counseling and testing forms.
- Performance Measurements
- Consent, pre-test counseling, and necessary forms will be completed for all (100%) patients receiving an HIV rapid test.
- All (100%) HIV rapid test results will be relayed to the provider with accuracy and confidentiality.
- The HIV rapid test will be run correctly 100% of the time.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Medical Assistants (MA) Certification/Registration
- Diploma from an accredited school
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification
Experience:
- Experience with children and adults' immunization and venipuncture
- Demonstrates good communication and organizational skills.
