Job Overview
Quality Clinical Lab LLC is seeking an experienced and dependable Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT/MT) to join our laboratory team. This position will primarily work in our Microbiology and Molecular Diagnostics Department. We are specifically looking for a candidate who has hands-on experience with MicroScan microbiology systems and QuantStudio 7 Pro Real-Time PCR systems. The ideal candidate must be comfortable working independently, following laboratory procedures, performing quality control, troubleshooting instrumentation, accurately documenting results, and maintaining a professional and reliable work environment.
Primary Responsibilities - Perform routine and specialized testing in the Microbiology and Molecular Diagnostics departments. - Operate the Beckman Coulter MicroScan system for microorganism identification and antimicrobial susceptibility testing. - Operate the Applied Biosystems QuantStudio 7 Pro Real-Time PCR System for molecular/PCR testing. - Prepare, process, and analyze patient specimens according to laboratory procedures. - Perform PCR setup, amplification, analysis, and result review according to established procedures. - Perform microbiology culture workups and identification/susceptibility testing as applicable. - Perform and document daily, weekly, and monthly quality control and required instrument maintenance. - Troubleshoot instrument, reagent, QC, and testing issues. - Review patient results for accuracy before reporting according to laboratory policies. - Recognize abnormal, critical, or questionable results and follow appropriate laboratory procedures. - Maintain accurate documentation and laboratory records. - Follow CLIA requirements, laboratory SOPs, safety procedures, infection-control practices, and HIPAA requirements. - Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked work area. - Communicate professionally with laboratory management and other staff. - Assist with additional laboratory duties when necessary.
Required Qualifications - Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or another qualifying laboratory science. - Current Florida clinical laboratory personnel license appropriate for the testing performed. - Previous clinical laboratory experience. - Strong microbiology and/or molecular diagnostics experience. - Experience with MicroScan is strongly preferred. - Experience with QuantStudio 7 Pro or comparable real-time PCR instrumentation is strongly preferred. - Knowledge of quality control, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and laboratory documentation. - Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities without continuous supervision. - Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate patient results. - Dependable, punctual, professional, and able to communicate effectively with laboratory staff and management.
Preferred Experience Candidates with direct, hands-on experience using both MicroScan and QuantStudio 7 Pro will receive priority consideration. Experience in an independent clinical laboratory and familiarity with microbiology cultures, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, molecular infectious-disease testing, and real-time PCR workflows are highly desirable.
