Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Officer to join our construction company. The Purchasing Officer will be responsible for coordinating the procurement of materials, equipment, and services necessary for our construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction materials and suppliers, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to manage multiple procurement tasks efficiently. This role is crucial in ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement, contributing directly to the successful execution of our construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
· Negotiating with vendors and subcontractors
· Updating and Filing Records
· Coordinating purchasing of materials
· Coordinating material delivery dates to project sites
· Resolving order problems
· Preparing Purchase Orders and Proposals
· Demonstrable experience in negotiating prices and terms and conditions
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of construction is required at a minimum of 3 years of experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, or a related field preferred. Relevant work experience may substitute for formal education.
- Proven experience as a Purchasing Officer or in a similar procurement role, preferably within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, equipment, and procurement processes.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Ability to read blueprints
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
