Position Summary
Responsible for administering and maintaining SCADA systems and associated infrastructure within a NERC CIP-compliant environment. This role ensures system reliability, security, and compliance with regulatory standards while supporting operational needs for real-time grid monitoring and control.
Key Responsibilities
System Administration:
- Install, configure, and maintain SCADA servers, workstations, and network components.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls in alignment with CIP standards.
- Implement and enforce NERC CIP requirements for Electronic Security Perimeters (ESP) and Physical Security Perimeters (PSP).
- Maintain BES Cyber System Information (BCSI) confidentiality and integrity as defined in internal CIP programs.
- Support audits, evidence collection, and documentation for CIP compliance.
- Perform routine health checks, patching, and firmware updates on SCADA components.
- Monitor telemetry and ensure accurate real-time data exchange, coordinate with ISO during telemetry failures.
- Participate in cyber incident response activities per CIP-specific playbooks and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Document and validate configuration changes in compliance with CIP standards.
- Support procurement and deployment of SCADA-related hardware/software per CIP procurement guidelines.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- 3 years of experience administering SCADA or EMS systems in a regulated environment.
- Strong understanding of NERC CIP standards (CIP-002 through CIP-011) and compliance processes.
- Proficiency in Windows/Linux administration, networking, and cybersecurity principles.
- Experience with remote access technologies (VPN, MFA) and secure configurations.
- Familiarity with BES Cyber Systems and BCSI handling procedures.
- VMWare experience and/or VMWare certified
- Knowledge of telemetry protocols and ISO coordination requirements.
- Prior involvement in CIP audits or evidence preparation.
