About The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to learn all aspects of general gardening duties within a ground’s maintenance environment. The work is carried out on council owned land including playing fields, cemeteries, highway verges, sheltered housing sites and playgrounds.
Salary expectations, from £15,808 per annum in first year of apprenticeship.
Key Responsibilities
You will be placed alongside experienced gardeners to enhance the grounds maintenance service and ensure that the work carried out is high quality and achieves contractual objectives
You will learn and carry out general ground’s maintenance and horticultural duties including grass cutting, hedge cutting, shrub pruning, flower bed maintenance, weeding, chemical application and over-marking of sports areas. There will also be an opportunity to learn how to use the ride on mowers/ tractors subject to a full driving licence
You will be taught relevant health and safety guidelines and safe working practices and ensure that they are always observed including the wearing of appropriate PPE.
