Payroll and Compensation Analyst | Leading Law Firm

Our Legal Recruiting team is recruiting for a well established law firm seeking a Payroll and Compensation Analyst to join its Detroit team. This direct hire opportunity is ideal for a payroll or financial professional with strong analytical skills who enjoys working with data, compensation, reporting, and financial processes.
The Payroll and Compensation Analyst will support payroll and compensation functions for both employee and attorney populations and work closely with Payroll, Tax, Financial Planning & Analysis, Human Resources, Financial Services, and senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze payroll data for employees and attorney partners to identify trends, variances, and discrepancies
- Research and resolve payroll issues and exceptions
- Support payroll audits and compliance activities
- Assist with payroll budgeting and labor cost forecasting
- Partner with FP&A on compensation forecasting and financial planning
- Prepare payroll expense reports and variance analyses
- Reconcile payroll related general ledger accounts
- Review payroll taxes, deductions, garnishments, and benefit accounts for accuracy
- Develop and maintain payroll reports and dashboards
- Generate recurring and ad hoc reports for senior leadership, Human Resources, and Financial Services
- Validate data accuracy and support reporting requests
- Provide ADP support and backup assistance for payroll processing
Qualifications
- Experience in data organization, collection, and analytics
- Strong analytical, reporting, and Excel skills
- Knowledge of accounting and reconciliation processes
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and communication skills
- Prior experience with ADP or another payroll system is a plus
- Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, Data Science, or a related field preferred
