Lead Developer

Overview

We are seeking an experienced and driven Lead Developer to serve as a senior technical individual contributor on our team. In this role you will collaborate with the Development Manager to shape software architecture, lead by technical example, and mentor junior developers. The ideal candidate brings deep full-stack expertise, advanced SQL skills, hands-on AWS experience, and the analytical mindset to monitor system performance and translate data into actionable insights. Just as important is your ability to empathize with stakeholders and teammates, diagnosing problems quickly and delivering effective solutions with a calm, collaborative approach.

This position is hybrid and will require some onsite presence at our Oklahoma City office.

Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

• Collaborate with the Development Manager to guide software design, architecture, and coding decisions across the full stack
• Lead and contribute to development meetings, offering strategic technical direction and solutions
• Oversee codebase quality, maintainability, and continuous improvement through code reviews and best-practice enforcement
• Write, maintain, and review production code in PHP, HTML5, JavaScript, Codeigniter and Laravel
• Implement and optimize APIs, including integrations with external services using cURL and JSON
• Conduct development tests and oversee QA processes to ensure robust, reliable software delivery

Data Analysis & Reporting

• Monitor technical, financial, and operational KPIs to proactively identify performance gaps and improvement opportunities
• Gather and analyze data from internal metrics and consumer feedback to inform development priorities
• Produce clear, concise, and actionable reports for stakeholders and leadership
• Perform occasional data entry tasks with a high degree of precision and attention to detail

Cloud & Infrastructure

• Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure resources on AWS, ensuring availability, scalability, and cost efficiency
• Evaluate and adopt new technologies that improve system reliability and team productivity

Collaboration & Mentorship

• Coordinate and respond to requests from cross-functional teams via email, Microsoft Teams, and other platforms
• Mentor junior developers and analysts, fostering a culture of curiosity, accountability, and continuous learning
• Empathize with stakeholders and end users to understand root causes, resolve issues quickly, and prevent recurrence
• Take ownership of additional responsibilities as assigned, demonstrating initiative and adaptability

Qualifications

Experience

• 5 - 7 years of professional software development experience, with demonstrated technical leadership or mentoring
• At least 1 - 2 years of hands-on Laravel experience
• Proven full-stack development background, with depth in PHP, HTML5, and JavaScript
• Experience with cURL and RESTful API integration

Technical Skills

• Advanced SQL proficiency: writing complex multi-table joins, designing views, and authoring stored procedures
• Strong command of JSON, MySQL databases, and operating systems
• Hands-on AWS experience managing cloud resources in a production environment
• Familiarity with one or more additional programming languages
• Ability to rapidly learn and apply new technologies and frameworks
• Ability to leverage AI to become more efficient

Education
