Structural Steel Welder / Fitter
Location: Cocoa, FL
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
Shifts: 1st & 2nd Shift Available
Starting Pay: $24.00/hour $3.00/hour shift differential for 2nd shift (higher based on experience)
Position Overview
We are seeking experienced Structural Steel Welders / Fitters for a shop-based fabrication position. Candidates with strong welding, fitting, or combined fabrication experience are encouraged to apply.
\n- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication specifications
- Measure, lay out, cut, fit, align, and assemble structural steel components
- Perform structural steel welding according to specifications and applicable standards
- Set up and operate fabrication machinery, equipment, and hand tools
- Use oxyacetylene torches, plasma cutters, drill presses, angle presses, jigs, tape measures, and squares
- Set up and operate a track torch as required
- Check materials and completed assemblies for quality, dimensions, and accuracy
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Work with supervisors and other shop personnel to meet production schedules and deadlines
- Previous experience in structural steel welding, fitting, or fabrication
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical drawings
- Experience measuring, fitting, aligning, and assembling structural steel
- Working knowledge of welding methods, fabrication equipment, and shop tools
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, quality work
- Commitment to safe work practices
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Experience with Flux Core welding
- Ability to successfully complete a Flux Core welding test
- Experience setting up and operating a track torch
- AWS or other welding certifications are a plus
