What You'll Do
- Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections of structural steel products
- Conduct weld inspections in accordance with AWS D1.1 (Structural Welding – Steel) and D1.5 (Bridge Welding Code)
- Verify welder qualifications and welding procedure specifications (WPS/PQR)
- Ensure correct interpretation of fabrication drawings, welding symbols, and GD&T
- Confirm material traceability and documentation for incoming and outgoing parts
- Identify, document, and assist in resolving non-conformances and quality issues
- Oversee and/or support NDT methods such as VT, MT, PT, and UT
- Participate in AISC QC audits and maintain compliance with ISO 9001 standards
- Maintain inspection equipment and calibration records
- Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for process optimization
- Minimum 5–10 years of experience in structural steel inspection and fabrication
- Strong knowledge of AWS D1.1, D1.5, and AISC standards
- Familiarity with CWI certification (preferred but not required)
- Experience with inspection tools including CMM, Faro Arm, and hardness testing
- Proficiency in reading complex blueprints and weld symbols
- Understanding of ERP systems (e.g., Global Shop) and MS Office Suite
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and attention to detail
- Experience participating in AISC audits or quality system reviews
- Hands-on NDT background with certifications or relevant training
