Pay rate: Starting at $30.00 /hour depending on experience
Position Overview
A manufacturing operation in the metal fabrication industry is seeking an experienced fabrication professional to support forming operations using CNC-controlled press brake equipment. This position is responsible for machine setup, programming support, tooling selection, and production of precision-formed sheet metal components.
This opportunity is ideal for someone with strong fabrication knowledge who can work independently, maintain tight tolerances, and troubleshoot forming challenges in a production environment.
\nCNC Forming Operations
- Set up and operate CNC press brake machinery for daily production requirements
- Load, edit, and manage programs through CNC control systems
- Select tooling, dies, and material configurations based on part specifications
- Adjust machine parameters to maintain dimensional accuracy and repeatability
- Produce formed components according to blueprint and tolerance requirements
Blueprint Interpretation & Quality Control
- Read and interpret fabrication prints, bend deductions, and technical drawings
- Verify dimensions and part quality using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring tools
- Monitor production output and identify issues related to tooling wear, material behavior, or forming inconsistencies
- Resolve common forming issues including springback and alignment concerns
Equipment Maintenance & Production Support
- Perform routine machine inspections and preventative maintenance tasks
- Maintain accurate production records including setup details and material usage
- Support workflow efficiency while maintaining quality standards
- Follow all shop safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment
Team & Workflow Contribution
- Work independently while making sound production and quality decisions
- Collaborate with fabrication and production teams to meet manufacturing goals
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts related to efficiency and precision
- Minimum of 5 years of experience operating CNC press brakes or similar forming equipment
- Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication and forming processes
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and fabrication blueprints
- Experience working with stainless steel, aluminum, galvanized steel, and similar materials
- Skilled in the use of precision measuring equipment
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting capability
- Solid math, measurement, and layout skills
- Ability to lift up to 50–75 lbs and perform repetitive physical tasks
- Comfortable working in an industrial manufacturing environment with varying temperatures
- Familiarity with advanced CNC graphical control systems
- Prior experience operating manual press brake equipment
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in high-volume production settings
