Position Overview
This role is responsible for applying powder coatings to metal parts using both manual spray techniques and automated systems. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented and experienced in preparing, coating, curing, and inspecting parts to meet strict quality standards.
Primary Duties
- Set up and operate powder coating systems, including manual spray guns and automated booths
- Apply electrostatic coatings to ensure even coverage and proper finish
- Load and position parts on conveyor lines, ensuring correct grounding
- Prepare materials through cleaning, masking, and pre-treatment processes
- Monitor and operate curing ovens, adjusting temperature and timing as required
- Conduct water testing and sampling during pre-treatment stages for quality control
- Confirm correct powder selection based on production specifications
- Inspect completed parts using visual checks and measurement tools
- Record production data, inspections, and maintenance activities accurately
- Identify and resolve equipment or process issues; perform routine maintenance
- Maintain a safe, organized, and compliant work environment
- At least 3 years of hands-on powder coating experience
- Familiarity with surface preparation and coating processes
- Strong attention to detail and ability to visually inspect finishes
- Basic understanding of material handling and workflow processes
- Ability to follow instructions and collaborate with team members
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with industrial equipment
- SSPC or PCI certification
- Experience with PLCs, HMIs, or automated systems
- Background in sheet metal manufacturing environments
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Capable of standing, bending, reaching, and performing repetitive tasks for extended periods
- Comfortable working in varying temperature conditions
- Able to pass a general physical and respirator medical evaluation
