POSITION SUMMARY:
The Mohs Histotech in Wilson, NC plays a crucial role in supporting Mohs micrographic surgery by preparing high-quality tissue specimens through expert histotechnical techniques. This position demands precision, attention to detail, and effective collaboration with the clinical team to ensure optimal patient care.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare and section frozen tissue specimens using Mohs surgical techniques accurately and efficiently.
- Process, embed, and stain tissue samples in accordance with established protocols.
- Maintain rigorous quality control standards to ensure specimen and slide integrity.
- Document all histology procedures and results thoroughly and accurately.
- Assist in maintaining and troubleshooting histotechnology laboratory equipment.
- Follow laboratory safety, infection control, and regulatory compliance policies, including OSHA and CLIA guidelines.
- Work collaboratively with dermatologic surgeons and clinical staff to optimize workflow and patient outcomes.
- Participate actively in continuing education and quality improvement initiatives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support laboratory and clinical operations.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Histotechnology or related field preferred.
- ASCP Histotechnologist (HTL) certification is preferred.
- Experience in Mohs histotechnology or related histology work is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
