Job Location: Greensboro, NC (GSO)

Job Summary:

The Front Office Receptionist will be responsible for accurate and timely patient registration utilizing medical systems. This individual will utilize facility medical necessity tools to verify appropriate patient insurance coverage. The role requires adherence to established policies and procedures while delivering exceptional customer service to physicians, patients, family members, and other medical professionals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Welcome patients and visitors by greeting them in person or on the telephone, answering or referring inquiries
  • Note patient arrival in Practice Management System (EMR)
  • Identify patients by date of birth and name in the computer system and create a new account if the patient is not in the system
  • Prepare necessary patient paperwork prior to the patient's appointment
  • Call "No Show" appointments to reschedule and make appropriate notations in the Practice Management System
  • Optimize patient satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by scheduling appointments either in person or by phone and reassuring patients by answering their questions
  • Assist in emergency situations by responding to patients in distress using good judgment
  • Review the Practice Management System (EMR) for information that needs to be updated and work with patients to obtain updated information
  • Identify payer sources, verify insurance eligibility, financial status, and assign the correct payor type
  • Ensure the reception area is clean and organized
  • Record and collect patient copays and balances at check in/out while maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information
  • Maintain operations by following policies and procedures, reporting changes as needed
  • Demonstrate superior customer service skills consistently
  • Answer the telephone in a timely and polite manner
  • Communicate courteously and professionally with patients, visitors, providers, and team members
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Practice Manager or Area Practice Manager

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required; Associate's Degree preferred
  • 1 year of customer service experience in a healthcare office preferred
