Role Description
As our Industrial Designer, you will drive the creative direction and technical execution of new product lines and custom installations—entirely remotely. You’ll partner virtually with project managers, architects, and our fabrication team, translating client briefs into detailed designs, prototypes, and production-ready deliverables. This role requires consistent availability during Eastern Standard Time business hours and includes leadership of junior designers.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead concept development for custom millwork products, furniture pieces, and fixtures
Produce detailed CAD models, renderings, and technical drawings
Create quick-turn design iterations and rapid visual prototypes for review
Manage and organize design PDFs and project documentation
Develop physical and digital prototypes to validate form, fit, and function
Apply design thinking methodologies to solve complex spatial and material challenges
Collaborate via video calls and project-management tools to ensure design intent is realized
Mentor and manage junior designers, coordinating workloads and reviews
Source materials, finishes, and hardware in alignment with project budgets and specifications
Maintain a library of design standards, best practices, and emerging trends in millwork and furniture design
Prepare high-quality renderings and visual presentations for clients and stakeholders
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or related field
Proven experience in industrial design projects, preferably within millwork, furniture, or architectural products
Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, and other Autodesk software
Strong prototyping skills (physical model making and/or digital rapid-prototyping)
Expertise in preparing and managing multi-page design PDFs and documentation
Experience delivering quick design results under tight deadlines
Rendering experience with tools like KeyShot, V-Ray, or similar
Solid grasp of design thinking and product development processes
Exceptional creativity, visual communication, and problem-solving abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication; comfortable presenting in virtual meetings
Self-motivated, highly organized, and able to manage tasks independently in a remote setting
Leadership experience or demonstrated ability to manage and mentor a small design team
Availability to work U.S. Eastern Standard Time business hours
Preferred
Experience with CNC programming and workshop fabrication processes
Familiarity with materials science for wood, composites, metals, and sustainable materials
Portfolio demonstrating a range of custom design, rapid prototyping, and rendering work
