Description
We are seeking an early-career Electrical Engineer to develop and professionalize the electrical design for the Company’s next-generation 3D printers. Successful candidates will be passionate about electrical system design and implementation, 3D printing, and high-reliability of safe systems intended for use in industrial manufacturing settings.
Responsibilities
- Comfortable working independently on the design and deployment of professionalized electrical systems for working volumetric printer prototypes
- Prototyping for PCBs, electronics enclosures and metal parts (including soldering, 3D printing, etc) with strong sense of ownership of designs
- Refine motion control systems design including motors, feedback encoders, sensors and other opto-mechanical subsystems and components
- Collaborate with Opto-mechanical, Process and Software Engineers in active design and development of volumetric printer prototypes
- Additional responsibilities may include management of supplier relationships, development/maintenance of purchasing procedures, and/or development of standard operating procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
- Has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree in related field relevant professional experience
- Have at least 2 years of experience designing, assembling, testing and debugging electronics and custom PCBs
- Knowledgeable in servo and motion control
- Ability to test for soundness of designs using proven protocols to perform engineering calculations and experiments
- Experience designing and creating documentation for electrical panels consisting of assembly and wiring drawings, BOM’s and associated layout drawings
- Excellent communication, organizational, documentation and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with mature EE development processes, such as design for testability and high reliability
- Experience developing, implementing, and analyzing signal processing techniques
- Experience in the consumer electronics industry in a role that deployed sensing and control functionality to late-stage prototypes or commercial products
- Possessing strong documentation/drawing ability with experience releasing electrical drawings packages for manufacture.
- Prior experience working with electromechanical products like robotics or industrial automation a plus
- Experience working with optomechanical components a plus
- Comfort developing prototypes of multi-disciplinary technologies
- Experience implementing electronics for controlling stages, lasers, sensors, cameras, etc.
