What are the responsibilities and job description for the Semantic Data Modeler/Architect position at Quadrant Technologies?
Role Summary:
We are seeking a Semantic Data Modeler / Architect to design and govern a business-facing semantic layer built primarily on Snowflake semantic views and consumed through Power BI reporting. This role will translate business requirements into trusted, scalable semantic models that support enterprise reporting, self-service analytics, and emerging AI use cases. The ideal candidate brings strong semantic modeling expertise along with the technical depth to understand role-based access, data entitlements, security controls, and downstream consumption patterns across BI and AI-enabled solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain Snowflake semantic views that provide consistent business definitions, reusable metrics, dimensions, hierarchies, and KPIs.
- Translate business reporting and analytics needs into governed semantic models aligned to enterprise data standards.
- Partner with business stakeholders, analysts, and product owners to validate definitions, logic, and reporting expectations.
- Enable trusted consumption of semantic assets in Power BI for dashboards, reports, and self-service analytics.
- Ensure the semantic layer can serve as a reliable foundation for AI and advanced analytics use cases by providing high-quality business context, metadata, and reusable logic.
- Collaborate with engineering, architecture, and security teams to support role-based access control, row-level access, data entitlements, masking, and secure data consumption.
- Document semantic definitions, business rules, lineage, and metadata in governance/catalog tools such as Alation or similar platforms.
- Monitor and resolve data quality, semantic logic, and reporting issues impacting downstream BI or AI use cases.
- Provide production support for semantic-layer and reporting issues, including root-cause analysis and coordination across teams.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- 5–8 years of experience in semantic modeling, BI architecture, analytics engineering, data modeling, or a related discipline.
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake or equivalent datalakes, including business-facing semantic modeling and governed data access patterns.
- Experience supporting reporting and analytics solutions in Power BI.
- Strong experience translating business requirements into semantic models, business metrics, KPIs, and reporting structures.
- Strong understanding of role-based access control, row-level security, data entitlements, and governed access design.
- Ability to work at both the business and technical levels, including source-to-semantic mapping, reporting consumption, and access considerations.
- Experience with metadata governance, business glossary management, and catalog tools such as Alation.
- Familiarity with data quality monitoring, validation, and issue resolution in reporting environments.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work across business, engineering, BI, and governance teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Snowflake security capabilities such as roles, grants, row access policies, masking policies, and secure views.
- Experience aligning Snowflake semantic views with Power BI data models and reporting performance needs.
- Familiarity with semantic layers or curated business data products used for AI/ML or GenAI use cases.
Knowledge of SQL and ability to collaborate closely with data engineering teams in agile delivery environments.
