Pavement Engineer
Vienna VA
Pay From: $45 per hour
MUST:
B.S. in Civil Engineering (required); M.S. in Civil or Transportation Engineering preferred.
1-3 years of relevant experience in pavement, geotechnical, or transportation engineering (internship or academic research acceptable).
Strong interest in pavement materials, design, evaluation, and management.
Familiarity with ASTM pavement distress surveys, FAA Advisory Circulars, or PAVER is a plus.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation.
Willingness to travel (up to 25-40%) for field assignments at U.S. airports and military bases.
U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance for military site access.
DUTIES:
Assist in conducting pavement condition inspections (PCI) following ASTM D5340, ASTM D6433, and FAA AC 150/5380-7B standards.
Support field teams in collecting, labeling, and uploading distress data and imagery using automated systems.
Perform fieldwork at airports and airfields, including distress identification, pavement coring layout, and quality control checks.
Assist in reviewing and validating pavement condition data in PAVER 7.1.2 and ArcGIS Pro.
Prepare sections of technical reports, including figures, tables, and pavement summaries.
Support senior engineers in developing pavement design recommendations and rehabilitation strategies.
Participate in QA/QC processes for PCI accuracy verification and data integrity.
Coordinate with airfield stakeholders to ensure safety and access compliance during field operations.
