We are a leading contract manufacturer of wire harnesses and custom cable assemblies dedicated to delivering high-quality, tailored solutions to our clients across various industries such as aerospace, agriculture, aviation, medical, military, and transportation. As we continue to expand our operations, we are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Tooling Specialist/Production Supervisor.
As a Tooling Specialist/Production Supervisor, you will play a hands-on role to ensure the workflow of the production floor runs efficiently, with a focus on set-up, maintenance and repair of various cable manufacturing equipment. The ideal candidate leads by example, works alongside the team and ensures safety, quality and production goals are consistently met.
- Maintain, repair and control cable manufacturing equipment such as hand crimp tools, crimp applicator presses, wire strippers, wire cutters, wire twisters and pull testers
- Diagnose malfunctions in tooling/manufacturing equipment and identify improvement opportunities
- Recommend design changes to improve tool life and manufacturability
- Diagnose and improve the incidence of tool-related production issues, such as faulty crimps and improper insulation stripping
- Fabricate custom fixtures as needed
- Supervise and support production technicians
- Read and interpret cable drawings and tooling specifications
- Coordinate workflow to meet production schedules
- Train, mentor and cross-train production technicians
- Promote safety policy and awareness
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing, tool and die or machine shop environment
- High School diploma or equivalent; Apprenticeship program or technical certification a plus
- Strong mechanical and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with wire sizes, terminals and crimp specifications is highly preferred
- Proficiency with precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges)
- Manual dexterity for detailed, delicate adjustments
- Hands-on, lead from the floor leadership style
- Lifting to 30 lbs
- IPC WHMA 620 Knowledge a plus
- Expertise with CNC machines a plus
- ISO 9001:2015 Knowledge a plus
