What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part Time Registered Nurse (RN) for Preschool position at QSAC, Inc.?
Job Summary
QSAC is looking for dedicated school nurses (RN) to support children with autism in our preschool program in Little Neck, NY.
The pay rate for this position is $60 an hour.
This is a part-time position from 9am to 2pm (5 hours a day / 5 days a week). Schedule follows a school calendar and includes 6 weeks during the summer (July to mid-August).
Responsibilities
Health & Administration
- Oversee general health issues for students with autism in the schools.
- Ensure health, safety & welfare of students.
- Administer First Aid & Emergency interventions as needed (i.e. Epi-pen, Asthma pump, etc.)
- Evaluate student illness to determine appropriate action (i.e. parent pick-up, rest)
- Evaluate emergency situations to determine need for EMS
- May administer medication for some students in preschool under specified circumstances.
- Appropriately document all interactions in student files & Medication log
- Maintain participant/family confidentiality
- Assist in tracking and obtaining annual medical and immunization records.
- Maintain confidential medical records.
- Supervise students waiting for parent pick-up.
- Consult with parents and/or healthcare professionals to ensure optimal medical treatments are provided to children being supported.
- Maintain medical/health related supply inventory.
- Attends internal team meetings as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors and/or senior management
Qualifications & Work Experience
- Vaccination required.
- 1-2 years RN highly preferred. School nurse experience a plus
- Valid NYS RN license in good standing required.
