As a Reliability Engineer, you will improve equipment reliability, availability, and maintainability by applying engineering principles, data analysis, and best practices. You will focus on reducing unplanned downtime, extending asset life, and supporting safe, cost-effective operations through proactive maintenance strategies and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Role Activities
Asset Reliability & Maintenance Strategy
- Develop, implement, and optimize preventive/predictive maintenance programs.
- Analyze equipment performance and failure data to identify trends, root causes, and improvement opportunities.
- Lead or support root cause failure analysis (RCFA) for recurring equipment issues and critical failures.
- Establish a process for production, EHS, and quality to define equipment criticality and maintain results.
- Drive reliability improvements through defect elimination, standardization, and best practices.
- Support capital projects, equipment upgrades, and new asset installations with reliability input.
- Recommend design changes or operational improvements to reduce failures and improve maintainability.
- Support Lean, Six Sigma and other initiatives related to maintenance and reliability.
- Monitor and analyze KPIs.
- Utilize CMMS system to ensure accurate asset records, maintenance plans, and failure history.
- Prepare reports and dashboards to communicate reliability performance and recommendations to leadership.
- Partner with maintenance, operations, engineering, and safety teams to improve equipment performance.
- Provide technical guidance and training to maintenance and operations personnel.
- Support outage planning, shutdowns, and major maintenance events as needed.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 3 years of experience in reliability engineering, maintenance engineering, or industrial maintenance.
- Experience in manufacturing, chemical processing, utilities, or industrial facilities.
- Strong knowledge of maintenance strategies (PM, PdM, RCM).
- Proven problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
- Professional certifications (e.g., CMRP, CRE, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt).
- Experience with vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, and other predictive technologies.
- Working knowledge of equipment standards, safety standards, and regulatory requirements (API, ASME, OSHA, NFPA, etc.).
