This includes maintaining standards of product quality and using quality tools for improving the effectiveness of internal processes. This individual generates and maintains quality data and metrics and drives continuous improvement.

The Pay range for this role is $78,960.00 - $124,080.00 Annual

The Quality Engineer supports the direction and objectives to meet the quality needs for the Laird Electromagnetic business and Microwave Absorbers on-site in Carlsbad, CA. This includes maintaining standards of product quality and using quality tools for improving the effectiveness of internal processes. This individual generates and maintains quality data and metrics and drives continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Ensures the quality requirements for AS9100D/ISO9001:2015 and other quality standards are implemented and maintained at the Carlsbad Plant.
- Ensure product quality by enforcing standard operating procedures and quality standards across all production areas.
- Manage departmental performance measures, visual controls, and provide routine progress updates to leadership.
- Maintain and update quality manuals, procedures, and related documentation.
- Oversee company-wide compliance with applicable engineering codes and regulatory quality requirements, including documentation control.
- Support vendor evaluation and monitoring to ensure material and documentation compliance.
- Conduct inspections, audits, and internal reviews to identify improvement opportunities.
- Partner with manufacturing and engineering teams to drive corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform additional duties as needed in support of the quality program.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Quality Management, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 6 years of progressive experience in manufacturing and quality control.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Experience working in environments requiring strict quality documentation and compliance (e.g., pressure-rated products, regulated manufacturing, or mechanical/industrial components).
- Proven ability to maintain and improve product quality standards.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and process‑improvement skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, Teams, SharePoint, and related tools.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally when needed.
- Proficient in Minitab® and use of Microsoft programs (Excel, PowerPoint) for data analysis and reporting.
- Exposure to quality tools (Ex. SPC, 5S, Lean, Six Sigma, FMEA)
- CMM preferred.
