The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating and writing various types of user documentation, including how-to guides, manuals, references, or instructions. This candidate should have strong communication skills which enable them to explain complicated concepts in a simple manner. This individual will also meet with customer representatives frequently in order to understand required content.
Responsibilities
- Partner with cross-functional teams to understand program applications, CONOPS, and documentation requirements
- Lead the development of high-quality documentation aligned with standards and audience needs
- Author clear, user-focused interface text, online help, and developer documentation
- Develop tutorials and training materials to support effective end-user adoption
- Evaluate content to drive reuse, standardization, and single-sourcing efficiencies
- Establish and maintain scalable information architecture and documentation frameworks
- Engage stakeholders to align documentation priorities with program goals
- Proactively identify issues and implement solutions to improve documentation processes and outcomes
Qualifications
- Demonstrated 4 years of experience leading technical writing efforts across software documentation, business processes, and IT operations
- Proven ability to deliver high-quality, detail-oriented documentation aligned with organizational standards
- Expertise in translating complex technical concepts into clear, accessible content for diverse audiences, including visual and written formats
- Exceptional written communication skills in English, with a focus on clarity, accuracy, and consistency
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite to support documentation development and delivery
- Working knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies to support documentation within iterative environments
- Experience operating within complex, enterprise-level IT environments, supporting large-scale systems and programs
- Demonstrated experience developing technical documentation in support of HHS federal government programs
- Domain experience in human resources and healthcare environments, supporting specialized documentation needs
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, technical writing, or a related field
