The position entails phlebotomy, sample collection, specimen accessioning, data entry. The candidate selected will also be asked to collect the following: blood, urine, oral fluids, or nasal swabs. The phlebotomist will work in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and knowledge of standard operating procedures is vital. This position is for full time Monday - Friday day. Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Collection of specimens on site or at medical offices
- Verify patient demographic information matches the test requisition form submitted
- Data entry of patient information into the computer system for tracking purposes
- Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples
- Resolve and document any problem specimens
- Unpack and organize specimens
- Comfortable handling human biological specimens including blood, urine and saliva samples
- Sanitizing work areas
- Comply with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies
- Accurately obtain and enter patient data and documentation for billing and medical records purposes
- Use effective written and verbal communication skills
- Perform QLabs’ general customer service duties, including phone inquiries, patient/client encounters, and interfacing with referring provider staff and personnel
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Medical experience preferred, phlebotomy certification ideal
- Proficient computer and typing skills
- Ability to lift up to 30lbs, work in protective equipment and sit/stand for long periods of time
- Strong eye hand coordination in order to accurately identify specimens by touch and sight
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
- High level of attention to detail with the ability to problem solve
- Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
- Ability to work overtime when needed
- Ability to read and fully understand laboratory standard operating procedures
- Must have a high attention to detail, be a self-motivator and be highly organized
