POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Senior Data Analyst, Grid & Energy Services (G&ES), will play a critical role in transforming complex data into actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making within Hanwha Qcells' G&ES Department. This individual will lead data analysis initiatives across DER, VPP operations, utility market opportunities, and program incentives, developing dashboards, predictive models, and business intelligence reports. The role requires strong technical proficiency, industry knowledge, and a strategic mindset to identify trends, support business development, and enhance operational performance. This position will be based out of Irvine, San Francisco or Santa Clara, CA
RESPONSIBILITIES
Analyze DER and VPP market data, company business performance metrics, and operational KPIs to generate actionable insights.
Develop and maintain comprehensive dashboards and data models using Power BI, Tableau, and ArcGIS to support strategic and operational initiatives.
Create performance tracking dashboards for SREC and VPP operations, visualizing key KPIs and trends.
Visualize regional SREC/VPP program roadmaps and track progress against milestones to support business planning.
Conduct regional utility congestion data analysis to identify new business development opportunities.
Build and maintain an incentive program tracking dashboard across all U.S. regions, highlighting trends and future program forecasts.
Support strategic GTM initiatives by delivering market analysis, competitor benchmarking, and scenario modeling.
Extract, clean, and analyze large datasets using SQL, Python, or equivalent tools to support deep-dive analyses.
Translate complex data into clear, concise business recommendations and action plans for internal stakeholders.
Collaborate cross-functionally with FP&A, Business Development, and Program Management teams to align data insights with business needs.
Provide regular reporting to leadership on market trends, VPP operational performance, and business development KPIs.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in data science, Computer Science, Engineering, Energy Systems, Economics, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in a data analyst role, preferably in the energy, DER, utilities, or clean tech sectors.
Strong expertise in data visualization tools such as Power BI and Tableau.
Experience working with geospatial data using ArcGIS or similar platforms.
Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language such as Python for data analysis and automation.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a proven ability to interpret complex datasets.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate data insights into business action.
Strong understanding of U.S. electricity markets and regulatory frameworks.
Familiarity with VPP (Virtual Power Plant) and DER (Distributed Energy Resources) business models and data structures.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Direct experience working with DERs, VPPs, or energy market data.
Knowledge of U.S. utility market structures, incentive programs, and congestion management.
Familiarity with machine learning concepts and predictive analytics.
Salary : $123,000 - $176,000
