Technical Product Owner – Platform

Qcells North America
San Francisco, CA Full Time
POSTED ON 3/28/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 4/26/2026
Description

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Technical Product Owner – Platform serves as the bridge between Product Management, application teams and Platform Engineering, ensuring platform requirements are clearly understood, technically sound, and ready for implementation. This role doesnotset the product vision; instead, it translates strategic direction from product management and requirements from various application teams into detailed, actionable work for the platform engineering team. Embedded within the platform engineering organization, the TPO ensures the delivery of reliable, scalable, and secure platform capabilities used by internal development teams and services.

This is not a purely business-facing product role — strong technical fluency is essential.

On‑site role with presence aligned to local team cadence and needs

Responsibilities

Requirement Translation & Alignment

  • Serve as the primary liaison between product managers, engineers, architects, and stakeholders, ensuring full clarity on scope, constraints, and dependencies.
  • Validate technical feasibility and align requirements with platform architecture, engineering standards, and operational realities.

Backlog Ownership & Prioritization

  • Maintain and refine the engineering backlog, ensuring stories are well‑defined, prioritized, and ready for development.
  • Prioritize work based on product objectives, technical value, and platform health—including reliability, maintainability, and security.
  • Balance new feature enablement with platform lifecycle needs such as modernization, tech debt reduction, and performance improvements.

Execution & Delivery Support

  • Drive agile ceremonies with engineering teams (refinement, planning, story reviews), ensuring high-quality requirements and smooth execution.
  • Clarify edge cases, workflows, integrations, and technical nuances throughout the development process.
  • Coordinate cross‑team dependencies and ensure engineering teams have what they need to deliver on commitments.

Platform Technical Understanding

  • Build a deep understanding of platform architecture, cloud infrastructure, developer workflows, and operational constraints.
  • Partner closely with architects, SREs, and engineering leads to ensure requirements align with technical best practices.
