We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer - IAM to join our Software Engineering team to design, develop, and scale secure authentication and authorization systems across our platform. The ideal candidate will have experience in enterprise-scale security infrastructure and will work closely with Security, IT, DevOps, and Engineering teams to ensure secure and seamless user access.
This position is remote or can be based out of our Santa Clara, CA office. (or similar)

Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of IAM solutions including authentication, authorization, identity lifecycle management, and federation.
- Drive the architectural direction for IAM systems, ensuring scalability, performance, and security.
- Partner with security, compliance, and engineering stakeholders to define IAM standards and best practices.
- Develop and maintain tools and automation for user provisioning, SSO, RBAC, and policy enforcement.
- Evaluate and integrate third-party IAM platforms and technologies when applicable.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership within the IAM domain.
- Participate in incident response and root cause analysis related to access management and security events.
- Continuously monitor the IAM ecosystem for risks and improvement opportunities.
- 8 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 4 years focused on IAM systems.
- Deep understanding of modern identity protocols such as SAML, OAuth 2.0, OIDC, and SCIM.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Security, or equivalent experience.
- Hands-on experience with IAM platforms (e.g., Okta, Entra, Ping Identity, ForgeRock).
- Proficient in one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, or C#.
- Familiarity with Zero Trust Architecture and least privilege principles.
- Travel may be required up to 10%, depending on business needs.
- Solar Industry experience (Renewable)
- Experience implementing IAM in cloud-native environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Knowledge of infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM) and CI/CD practices.
- Experience with containerized environments (Kubernetes, Docker).
- Security certifications such as CISSP, SSCP, or GIAC (GCIH, GISP).
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST).
