POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Qcells Home Energy Solutions is seeking a Senior Permit Coordinator to oversee and coordinate projects through administrative and specialized expertise within the Home Energy Systems division. As the Senior Permit Coordinator, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the permitting process, including permitting applications through online city portals, in-person over the counter submittals, and SolarApp submittals. This is a critical role responsible for overseeing the permitting stage ensuring that all team members and vendors submit permit applications within SLA and obtain approvals in a timely manner. The ideal candidate will be an experienced professional with strong analytical abilities, exceptional attention to detail, proven problem-solving skills, and excellent communication.
This position will be based out of one of our offices in Irvine, CA with an in-office schedule set at the direct manager’s discretion in accordance with the company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
- Monitor reports and dashboards to ensure permitting team and vendors are submitting permit applications within SLA
- Identify performance gaps and areas of opportunity to improve performance
- Develop allocation strategy between permitting vendors and in-house permitting team
- Train all new permit coordinators
- Prepare, compile, and submit permit applications/packages (including design packages and as-built revisions) in compliance with municipal codes and AHJ requirements.
- Manage all permitting processes across pre- and post-installation stages, ensuring smooth project flow.
- Collaborate with internal teams and management to improve workflows and streamline permitting operations.
- Maintain and update the AHJ database with current permitting requirements; submit applications in person where required.
- Oversee and manage permitting vendors, including performance reviews, contract negotiations, and pricing.
- Drive process improvements to achieve best-in-class permit turnaround times.
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of permit specialists.
- 3-5 years or professional work experience in residential solar operations and/or bachelor’s degree with 2-3 years’ experience in solar operations.
- Solid foundation of job knowledge is required to perform effectively.
- Proven track record of problem-solving and issue resolution.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presenting credit management strategies in both internal and external settings.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a high-growth environment.
- Mission-driven and collaborative team player.
- 3 years’ experience in residential solar permitting
