Position Overview
The Junior Maintenance Technician supports the Maintenance Supervisor in maintaining and improving the reliability of facility systems and production equipment within our fabrication plant.
This is a hands-on, entry-to-mid level role designed for individuals with some mechanical or industrial experience who are looking to grow into a full maintenance technician position. The role focuses heavily on preventative maintenance, inspections, basic repairs, and documentation, with structured guidance and training.
Key Responsibilities
1. Preventative Maintenance Support
- Assist in performing scheduled preventative maintenance on equipment such as CNC machines, beamlines, and fabrication equipment, forklifts, compressors, and material handling equipment
- Perform routine tasks such as lubrication, inspections, fluid checks, and cleaning
- Accurately document completed work in PM logs, including equipment serviced, tasks performed and observations and follow-up needs
2. Equipment & Facility Inspections
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment and facility systems
- Identify and report issues such as wear, leaks, misalignment, or abnormal operation
- Assist in tracking equipment condition and required follow-up actions
3. Basic Repairs & Troubleshooting
Support repair work under supervision, including:
- Replacing worn components
- Assisting with mechanical and basic electrical troubleshooting
- Help respond to equipment breakdowns and assist in restoring operation
- Document repair work performed, parts used, and outcomes
4. Stormwater & Facility Compliance Support
Assist with weekly SWPPP and BMP inspections, including:
- Spill kit checks
- Housekeeping and yard inspections
- Drainage and material storage checks
- Support corrective actions and maintain compliance documentation
5. Parts, Tools & Organization
- Assist in tracking parts inventory and identifying needed replacements
- Help maintain clean, organized maintenance areas and tool storage
- Support basic vendor coordination (as assigned)
6. Documentation & Time Tracking
Accurately record time and work activities across categories such as:
- Preventative maintenance
- Repairs
- Inspections
- Compliance tasks
While maintaining clear and consistent maintenance records
Qualifications
Experience
- 1–3 years of experience in industrial, mechanical, automotive, or facility maintenance
- OR strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience
Education
- High school diploma or GED required
Technical Skills
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems (preferred) and electrical or hydraulic systems (a plus)
- Ability to use common hand and power tools
- Willingness to learn equipment and maintenance procedures
Soft Skills
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Consistent attendance (must-have)
- Willingness to learn and take direction
- Attention to detail in both hands-on work and documentation
- Ability to communicate clearly with supervisors and team members
Working Conditions
- Industrial fabrication environment with exposure to noise, heat, and heavy equipment
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., stand, bend, and climb as required
