Challenge yourself to manage Qantas’ engagement with state and territory governments Take an opportunity to provide strategic advice on key political and public policy issues with the national carrier Two-year fixed term position based at our Mascot Campus The Senior Manager Government & Public Affairs is responsible for supporting the development and execution of government relations strategies for the Qantas Group with state and territory governments including identifying policy, regulatory and legislative priorities as well as protecting and advancing Qantas’ reputation as Australia’s national carrier. Working alongside the Head of External Affairs and the broader Government, Industry and International team, this role will have deep relationships with government stakeholders, key staff and senior members of the public service and key industry bodies. This role will also work closely with internal stakeholders to lead key political, legislative and regulatory issues, develop policy positions and represent Qantas at an industry level. You’ll have: Experience in government relations or advocacy for an ASX100 corporate, a relevant public sector or senior political advisory role Tertiary qualifications in law, politics, economics, public policy or equivalent Proven experience and deep understanding of Government and Government agencies Highly developed strategic thinking and analytical abilities with proven experience in strategic policy development and risk management Proven ability to influence, negotiate with and persuade others Strong judgement and decision-making skills with political acumen Demonstrated ability to build and foster effective relationships and networks Exceptional oral, written and interpersonal communications skills with a demonstrated ability to effectively and comfortably interact across all levels of an organisation Strong leadership skills with an ability to work independently and as part of a team An understanding of Qantas Group functions and priorities, including relationships with relevant political offices, regulatory and policy agencies Why Qantas?
