The Manager, Group Fleet Analytics is responsible for driving and delivering critical analysis that supports the Group Fleet Reference Plan (GFRP) and associated activity such as aircraft retirement planning, fleet procurement, leasing strategy and new technology roadmap across the Qantas Group’s flying businesses including Qantas Airlines (Domestic and International), QantasLink (its affiliates e.g. NJS and NAA), Jetstar Airlines (Domestic, International and its affiliations e.g. JSA and JJP) and Qanats Freight. You will also support the activities associated with the GFRP such as Request for Proposals to procure new aircraft from key OEMS (e.g. Airbus, Boeing, GE, RR, P&W) including modelling new aircraft costs, lease versus buy analysis (e.g. End of Lease Compensation Model), and aircraft trading options analysis (e.g. sell versus scrap or part out). The Manager has leadership responsibility for key fleet projects across the group and will also own the Group’s Aircraft valuation tools and fleet data analytics supporting key stakeholders within the business for aircraft valuations and Qantas Treasury team. What you’ll bring to the role: Minimum 5 years of experience in the airline industry strategy consulting, preferably in fleet or network planning or other commercial areas Expert understanding of the airline industry as well as the critical interdependencies which impact fleet strategy development Prior people management experience and/or project management experience, including the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently through to completion and implementation Experience with senior stakeholder management Advanced analytical skills to source and interpret complex data Detailed understanding of airline economics and the drivers of cost Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) Broad appreciation of wider strategic issues and drivers which shape the aviation industry and an understanding of their potential impact on the Qantas Group Fundamental understanding of Fleet Planning principles and fleet investment economics, business case development Good communication, influencing and relationship building skills both internally with key peers from across the Qantas Group and externally with the key manufacturers Ability to articulate and implement strategies for the Qantas Group covering new aircraft technology Highly desirable: Tertiary qualifications in a logical and/or analytical discipline such as economics, mathematics, business, IT, engineering, or aviation.
