With over 50 years of heritage in designing and producing space and military grade oscillators, and other RF circuits, the technical aspect of a Q-Tech engineers’ day to day has a broad reach offering experience in mixed signal circuitry, testing, and manufacturing.
Position Summary
This position is responsible for the design and development of crystal oscillators, and other frequency control products with state-of-the-art performance. Leads project teams in a fast-paced team environment, to deliver new products to customers on time, meeting or exceeding all requirements and resulting in profitable products when transitioned to production.
Role & Responsibilities
· Create and optimize oscillator products, including VCXO’s, TCXO’s, OCXO’s phase-locked loops (PLLs), and other RF functions.
· Conduct simulations, measurements, and performance evaluations to verify design specifications. Perform detailed analysis of compliance for electrical, mechanical, environmental and regulatory requirements (compliance matrix) for all new products.
· Create detailed technical documentation for designs, test procedures, and system integration.
· Work with other engineers, including mechanical and manufacturing engineers, system architects, digital designers, and test engineers, to ensure successful project completion.
· Estimate total costs, as well as lead times for new products.
· Lead and/or participate in required project meetings: Project kick-offs, peer design reviews, pre-ship reviews, etc.
· Educate, train, mentor and coach other design engineers and technicians that have less experience or knowledge in the field.
Skills & Qualifications
· Substantial experience designing RF circuits including oscillators, amplifiers, multipliers, and filters. An emphasis on low noise and superior phase noise is desirable.
· Strong hands-on bench skills. Good troubleshooting skills down to the transistor component level.
· Experience with using RF measurement equipment, such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, frequency counters and Oscilloscopes.
· Mastery of RF/Microwave synthesis, simulation, and analysis software like AWR Microwave Office, Pathwave (Genesys), Genesis, Matlab.
· Proficient in MS Word, Excel, MS Project, Statistical features.
· Experience with Lab View, VEE PRO, ORCAD, Eagleware or CAD/CAE software preferred but not required.
· Strong project management skills.
· Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams to perform a wide variety of tasks in a fast-paced engineering/production environment.
· Must be a U.S. Person as defined by EAR Part 772 and ITAR 120.15
Education, Experience, & Training:
- BSEE, MSEE preferred.
- Minimum experience of 10 years in the RF/Microwave industry spaceflight applications preferred.
- Minimum experience of 5 years in oscillator design, crystal controlled preferred.
