What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sewer position at Q-Products and Services?
The sewer is responsible for preparing work to be accomplished by gathering and sorting material to sew product together for the Q-sales product line.
Essential Functions:
1. Prepare machine by changing needles and thread; securing attachments; placing spool, cord, or other materials on spindles.
2. Maintain quality but inspecting materials for flaws and checking the quality of finished products.
3. Sew materials together by guiding material under machine needle.
4. Adjust machine performance on material by observing machine operation; detecting malfunctions; and adjusting settings.
5. Ensure operation of equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and calling for repairs when needed.
6. Ensure compliance in all safety, health, and environmental regulations, policies and procedures for a goal of zero incidents and injuries.
7. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Guidelines
Required: High school diploma or GED equivalent and 1-3 years relevant work experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Ability to meet deadlines; to understand and follow written and verbal instructions; Ability to understand and follow posted work rules and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with supervisors, members of management, vendors, and other employees.
Physical and Environmental Elements:
This is a production classification and employees work indoors and outdoors (in all seasons) with exposure to noise, chemicals, heavy equipment and machinery. Accurate hand/eye coordination is required. Finger dexterity is required, as well as hand strength, with the ability to grasp, lift, push and pull. Work involves considerable climbing, twisting, bending, squatting and kneeling for long periods of time. May lift parts weighing up to 30 pounds and pull approximately 20 lbs. Need to have the ability to ascend and descent a ladder and/or scaffolding.
