What are the responsibilities and job description for the ESL Volunteer position at Q International School?
We’re looking for a local volunteer to join our team as soon as possible!
Q International School, located in downtown San Diego and part of the International Education Management (IEM) network, is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable volunteer to support our English language and cultural exchange programs.
This is a rewarding opportunity to connect with international students, help them improve their English, and gain firsthand experience in global education — all while becoming part of a vibrant, multicultural community.
About the Role:
As a volunteer, you’ll join our team for just a few hours per week to assist in our Fundamental English 18 and Academic English programs. You’ll work closely with our instructors and students, helping to create an engaging, supportive, and interactive classroom environment.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Supporting classroom activities such as conversation practice, pronunciation, and vocabulary exercises.
- Assisting instructors in preparing learning materials or facilitating small group discussions.
- Serving as a friendly “Language Partner” for international students during class breaks or informal activities.
- Participating in cultural and community-building events, both on and off campus.
In addition to our ongoing programs, you’ll also have the opportunity to get involved in our short-term programs, including our Winter Camp and Summer Camp, which bring together international students for immersive English learning and cultural experiences.
What You’ll Gain:
- Valuable cross-cultural communication and leadership skills.
- Hands-on experience in international education.
- Certificate of participation and letters of recommendation (upon completion).
- The joy of making a difference in students’ lives while learning from diverse cultures.
Who We’re Looking For:
- A responsible and open-minded adult volunteer based in San Diego.
- Someone who enjoys meeting people from around the world and supporting their learning journey.
- No teaching experience required — just a positive attitude, good communication skills, and a few hours to give each week!
