Responsibilities
- Prepare and assemble deli items with precision, ensuring quality and presentation standards are met.
- Serve customers with enthusiasm, answering questions about products and offering suggestions through effective upselling techniques.
- Occasionally operate POS systems including cash handling, EBT and credit card processing.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the deli area, adhering strictly to food safety regulations and sanitation standards.
- Restock shelves, organize displays, check expiration dates, and manage inventory levels efficiently to ensure product availability.
- Assist with food handling duties like slicing meats and cheeses, wrapping products, and managing food storage protocols.
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation, food service, or retail grocery environments.
- Familiarity with POS systems.
- Strong understanding of food safety practices, sanitation standards, and proper food handling procedures.
- Excellent customer service skills with a thick skin and the ability to engage positively with diverse and sometimes feisty clientele.
- Effective time management skills to prioritize tasks during busy periods in a quick service or fast-food restaurant setting.
- Basic math skills for cash handling, retail math calculations, and inventory management.
- Ability to work efficiently while maintaining attention to detail and cleanliness.
