Position Summary

PyroCom Systems, Inc. is seeking an experienced Licensed Fire Alarm Service Technician to join our Service Department. This position is specifically responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, testing, inspecting and maintaining commercial fire alarm systems.

This is not a general low-voltage, access control, CCTV or residential alarm position. Applicants must have hands-on commercial fire alarm service experience and hold a current Texas fire alarm license.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to commercial fire alarm service calls and customer requests.
  • Troubleshoot fire alarm panels, initiating devices, notification appliances, power supplies, wiring and communication issues.
  • Diagnose system troubles, supervisory conditions, ground faults, open circuits, and device failures.
  • Repair or replace defective fire alarm equipment and restore systems to proper operation.
  • Perform fire alarm inspections, testing, preventive maintenance and system verification.
  • Program and service fire alarm panels based on training and manufacturer authorization.
  • Accurately document deficiencies, repairs performed, parts used and recommended corrective actions.
  • Prepare complete and timely inspection and service reports.
  • Communicate system conditions and repair recommendations clearly to customers and account managers.
  • Coordinate with monitoring companies, inspectors, property representatives and other trades when required.
  • Maintain assigned tools, testing equipment, service vehicle, and inventory.
  • Participate in the scheduled after-hours emergency service rotation.
  • Follow applicable NFPA standards, manufacturer requirements, company safety policies and local codes.

Required Qualifications

  • Current Texas Fire Alarm License required.
  • Minimum 5 years of commercial fire alarm service and troubleshooting experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently diagnose and repair fire alarm system problems.
  • Experience reading fire alarm drawings, riser diagrams, device layouts and wiring diagrams.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 72 and applicable fire alarm codes and testing requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Ability to lift, carry, climb ladders and safely perform the physical duties of the position.
  • Strong customer service, communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience servicing or programming one or more of the following systems is preferred:

  • Siemens
  • Honeywell/Notifier
  • Gamewell-FCI
  • Fire-Lite
  • EST/Edwards
  • Potter
  • Other commercial fire alarm platforms

NICET certification and manufacturer training are preferred but not required unless specifically identified during the hiring process.

Pay: $20.00 - $35.00 per hour
